The English Civil War - John Adsley

The English Civil war of the 1640s was the bloodiest war ever fought by the British. It was waged across all the nations of Britain. It was a war of ideas and families were torn apart through their passionate beliefs on; the place and operation of religion, how and by whom Britain should be governed, the place of Kingship and by the role the ordinary citizen should play in shaping modern Britain.

Much of the war was fought in the English Midlands and Leicestershire. Charnwood figured prominently in its prosecution.
